We worked with a property developer to design a loft conversion and kitchen extension at the rear of the house. The property was a terraced family home in London with lots of natural light and small garden. However it also had lots of potential for more living and bedroom space.
The rear single-storey kitchen extension has large patio doors which lead to the small garden. Lots of skylights and a large window at the back of the extension also help to flood the room with light. The large window looks onto a secluded courtyard that we wanted to stay as outdoor space. It helps to bring natural light right into the middle of the home, and can also be accessed from the study.
We left the old side brick wall exposed in the kitchen running from the courtyard right through the garden. As a result, the kitchen feels even bigger and more connected to the outdoors.
